Our ancestors already sought shelter under the rocky roof of the Kindinger Klause in the Stone Age. During excavations in the 1970s, animal bones and tools were found that had been left behind in the open cave by Stone Age people.

The hermitage, which lies in a rock massif, is an imposing rock roof that is semicircularly open to the front and 10 meters wide, 3.5 meters high and 7 meters deep. From this rock roof branches off to the east a 10 meter long cave passage that opens up to the outside. A seating group under the rock roof invites the hiker, who reaches the hermitage via a path secured with railings, to take a rest.
