Before this small, sacred monument standing by the wayside, I would like to offer the following reflection by Christiane Völkel for meditative contemplation before the wayside cross (crucifix) to all who pause briefly in contemplation of God's love—incarnate and crucified in the person of Jesus Christ:
"On the other hand, I am certain that such love of God does not end in nothingness. Why would he bring people into existence through his love, allowing them to live and love, only to then make room for new life? Therefore, I believe in an eternity in which we share in the fullness of the one who loves and acts, through love and cooperation. It is into this existence that we are resurrected."
