Anyone who enters the courtyard of the abbey, under the late Romanesque and Gothic gatehouse, immediately gets an overview of the most important sights. On the right is the classicist abbot's house. Its construction started in 1724 according to a design by Willem Ignatius Kerrickx. The former entrance gate of the abbot's house provides access to the abbot's garden. Hidden in a corner of the abbot's garden is the Ostium, a small but beautiful building from 1741 that once served as a garden shed. Back in the courtyard, you then pass the adjacent Bishop's House. Its slender turret makes it clear to everyone where the abbey doorman can be found. The Abbey Church occupies a central position on the north side of the courtyard. Adjacent to the church is the chapter house. When you leave the church building, you will see the tithe barn, also the Boeren Krijgschuur, in the middle of the courtyard. Further into the courtyard, on the east side, one first passes the old sheepfold and later cowshed (1902). You then walk past the old abbey farm, built in 1640. The row of facades is completed by the beautiful wash house from 1640. The south side of the courtyard is completely occupied by commercial buildings dating from the 17th century.
