The three-lake railway, which branches off at Titisee station and runs almost 20 km to Seebrugg, was opened on December 2, 1926. It was a very late construction, after the German railway network had been gradually built almost 100 years earlier. But the Three Lakes Railway itself had a long planning and construction history with interruptions. After initial project planning in 1908, the concession for the construction of the line followed in 1912, which was not completed until 14 years later. In the meantime, the Baden State Railways had become the Deutsche Reichsbahn.
