The Falkenbergs were once a proud family of knights and fought alongside Rudolf von Habsburg in the Battle of Dürnkrut and Jederspeigen in 1278. The castle is on the edge of the market town of Straß, the center of which used to be near the castle, on a steep slope, which offers a natural fastening on three sides. Only a sparse remnant remains of the once imposing castle (courtyard 60 meters). The castle ruins are under monument protection.

Today you can hardly see the remains of the wall in the complex. A Romanesque gate and the chapel tower remain. In this tower there was once a sacral room on the ground floor and one on the upper floor. The ground floor could be entered via a round arch portal in the north wall - this portal is still well preserved.
The immediate surroundings of the remains of the wall are heavily overgrown. From time to time you can still see heaps of stones and heavily mossy, possible remains of the wall.
