An enchanting, extremely well-kept village. Large, old farms, pastures and meadows in the middle of the village and new buildings, which were made to fit exactly with architectural conditions, fit seamlessly together. Village silence, lazy cats lolling in the sun, a lovingly designed village playground and a wide nature with forest, water and pastures let us completely forget the reality for a paat hours.

Until 1937 Utecht was an enclave of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck on the territory of the Principality of Ratzeburg, while the immediately neighboring Campow belonged to the Duchy of Mecklenburg - Strelitz. The area of the former village of Neuhof also belonged to the community. 130 people lived there until 1975, before they had to leave their homes and the village, like many other villages on the state border, was razed. Located on the shores of the large Ratzeburg Lake, Utecht was already a popular holiday destination at the beginning of the century. Located on the edge of the biosphere reserve and at the gates of the Hanseatic city, it is well on the way to flourishing in its old splendor. (Extract from the municipality of Utrecht)
