The church of Sankt Martin Briedel is a baroque hall church made of white plastered quarry stone. It was built between 1772 and 1776. The main entrance is a red-framed basket-shaped portal in the north tower.

The oldest evidence of the existence of a St. Martin church in Briedel dates back to the 6th century (probably 585 AD). This is confirmed by the fact that the veneration of St. Martin and the construction of St. Martin churches in the Merovingian period, which was promoted in particular by the Bishop of Trier, Magnerich (566-586). The oldest evidence of the existence of a separate parish in Briedel dates back to the first half of the 10th century. In a document from 1154, the regulations of tithe rights were redefined, with the parish having to use its share of the tithe to provide everything necessary for the inside and outside of the church. These dates and other records also show that the parish must have existed by 1122, because it is referred to as a "custom" of the parishioners. In the 12th and 13th centuries, the influence of the Springiersbach and Himmerod monasteries in the local region became increasingly significant.

In 1264, the Himmerod monastery bought the property of the St. Trond monastery in Briedel and from then on played a key role in the fate of the community and the parish of Briedel for around 500 years until the French occupation of the Rhineland in 1794. On July 15, 1315, the parish of Briedel was incorporated into the Himmerod monastery. The entire income of the church thus went to the monastery, which had to use it to pay the priest or have the parish looked after by its own monks. The monastery also had to pay the church building costs (renovations). Since the time of secularization, the parish was "independent" again, first in the diocese of Aachen and then from 1824 again in the diocese of Trier and is today a member of the parish community of Zeller Hamm. The previous church (built at the beginning of the 12th century) stood on the same, over 1000-year-old church square as the current one, only the choir was facing east, the main entrance to the west and there was another door behind the main altar.
