The parking lot is located near the well-known abbey. Immediately from the parking lot you can enter the Dutch nature reserve Leenderbos. Strange: according to Komoot, the parking lot is in Hamont-Achel. You will also find the obligatory information signs in the parking lot. Leenderbos is just one of the many nature reserves that connect seamlessly here.

Nature Border Park De Groote Heide is a nature reserve of 6000 hectares of beautiful nature, with heathland, forests, fens and rivers. Six municipalities work together to cherish the nature reserve and ‘their’ nature. Nature Gate De Plaetse and Nature Gate De Achelse Kluis provide access to the nature reserve.

Located on the Belgian border, near the Achelse Kluis abbey, this is the starting point for a beautiful walking or cycling trip through the Leenderbos or the Groote Heide. You can enjoy views and silence here. The variation in this small-scale Brabant landscape contributes to a feeling of freedom. You can smell the many different conifers and observe special animal species, such as the nightjar, moor frog, viviparous lizard, woodcock, tawny owl and black woodpecker.
