It is located in the courtyard adjacent to block 11, from which the condemned were led out for execution. In the years 1941-43, the SS men shot several thousand people there. Mainly Polish political prisoners, mainly leaders and members of underground organizations, died here.
Executions were also carried out on Poles brought from outside the camp with a death sentence, including hostages captured as part of repression for the actions of the Polish resistance movement. There are known cases of shooting prisoners of other nationalities; Jews and Soviet prisoners of war. The wall was pulled down in 1944, while the camp was still in operation, but this did not mean that the execution was stopped. In the courtyard, other sentences were also carried out on prisoners, including the penalty of flogging and a post. auschwitz.org/zwiedzanie/wystawa-glowna/sciana-stracen
