"The Church of San Nicolás de Bari is located in the Grao de Gandía in Gandía (Valencia) Spain. The project arose from the need to build a church in Grao to replace the church previously destroyed during the Civil War and as Responding to the growing population of the area at the time, it was designed in 1959 by architects Gonzalo Echegaray Comba and engineer Eduardo Torroja Miret and built in 1962.
The land on which the construction was decided forms a promontory over the sea with an essentially triangular shape, with two of its fronts being next to the water. It is thus in a privileged position that stands out in the port facility. The property's only frontage to land is defined by a road that serves as a boundary to the nearest buildings.
The complex consists of the large volume of the nave and the portico that forms the cloister located next to it on the ground-facing side. In this way, the church appears as a free-standing temple, having the sea surface as its base."
