Like the Holy Spirit Church, the Holy Spirit Hospital was built between 1399 and 1402. The wing built next to the church served as a hospital until the end of the 19th century, which was intended not only for the sick and the elderly but also for pilgrims. The importance of the hospital can also be seen in the city coat of arms of Vipiteno, which shows a pilgrim on crutches with a rosary under the Tyrolean eagle.
