"... The Mettmanner Bach is a 9.4 km long, eastern and right tributary of the Düssel in the Niederbergisches Land.
The name of the stream is directly linked to the name of the town of Mettmann. The old form of the city name "Medamana" is derived to mean "the people of the middle (creek)" or "meadow of the middle (creek)". This is explained by the fact that the Mettmanner Bach is located in the middle between Anger (or Schwarzbach) and Düssel.

The Mettmanner Bach has its source in the former Wülfrather Honschaft Süd-Erbach at an altitude of 184 m above sea level. NN.

Course:
The stream flows from the Wülfrather urban area through Obmettmann, feeds a natural pool and ends here in two ponds in front of the Goldberger mill. After the mill, the stream flows into the town of Mettmann, where it is routed underground in the built-up area. The stream then follows its path above ground between Laubach and Diepensiepen.

Mouth:
The mouth of the Düssel is in the Neandertal, near the former manor of Hellenbroich Castle at an altitude of 73 m above sea level. NN. ..."
