After the First World War and the conclusion of the Treaty of St. Germain, the hut fell to the Italian side of the border and was subsequently used as a customs house. In the 1930s, it was incorporated into a military border area. After the Second World War, the hut remained in Italian possession, but from the 1970s onwards it was no longer used and gradually fell into disrepair.

The customs hut is on the summit of the Helm. You have a beautiful panoramic view of the Dolomites.
