In the course of his research, the historian Josef Wermert, who was born in Nienborg and now works in Olpe, came across documents that prove a Klepper, Melaten or leprosy house that was in the late
medieval away from the populated area of Nienborg befabd.
The artist Michael Franke from Erkelenz, who had previously worked successfully for Heek and Nienborg, developed a steel stele with the working group that shows the difficult fate of leprosy patients.
