As a memorial to fishermen, a bronze monument was erected on the green area in front of the town hall.

in 1971 during the Sea Festival, K. Kisiel's sculpture "Fisherman" was erected in front of the former town hall. Previously, in 1907, it stood on this place. the monument of Borusia, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the victory over Napoleon. The Borusia monument is sometimes called a national monument - Klaipėda was the only Prussian city not occupied by Napoleon's army.

After 1923, the Lithuanian rebels removed the monument and moved it to the town hall courtyard. At the end of the 1940s, when the nationalist feelings of the local Germans intensified, it was erected again. During World War II, the monument disappeared, and during the Soviet period the sculpture "Fisherman" was erected in its place. Around the sculpture there is a fountain, which is open in summer. Sculptor K. Kisielius, architect P. Šadauskas.
