      At Kettengasse 9 in Eppingen's old town stands the three-storey Alemannic half-timbered house, built in 1488 by Hans Rink, with striking bracing of the outer walls by storey-high, steep and interlocking St. Andrew's crosses.

      This house is a typical example of the last quarter of the 15th century and the transition period from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance that began here. The Upper German influence still remains in the visible floorboards, the corner and collar posts standing on them and the narrow beam spacing that is rarely found in Eppingen. The steep St. Andrew's crosses between the threshold and the frame as a new form of bracing are only based on the corner and collar posts. The easier to implement tenon joints have replaced the collar joints.

      In the immediate vicinity here in Kettengasse are three half-timbered houses from the Gothic to the Baroque periods. House No. 9 was built in 1488 in Alemannic style, house No. 6 around 1640 in Franconian style and No. 5 in 1772 in Baroque style ("three-style corner").
