The statue of Charles de Gonzaga
This beautiful bronze statue was inaugurated on October 17, 1899, in memory of the founder of the new city in the 17th century. The statue, as well as the secondary characters, are by Alphonse Colle, a student of Aristide Croisy.

In 1999, after spending a century in the center of Place Ducale, it was moved to the top of rue Pierre-Bérégovoy to respect the wishes of the founding prince and restore the homogeneity of Place Ducale. It also marks the entrance to the historic town of Charleville and welcomes visitors coming from the station.
