The memorial stone erected in 2009 commemorates the devastating consequences of hurricane Kyrill in January 2007. Around 27 million cubic meters of wood fell victim to it in Germany alone. In almost all Solling forestry offices, there were devastating wind damage and wind damage. In the Sievershausen district alone there were 2,500 cubic meters of spruce wood. Pictures from back then, such as the 100-year-old trees that have fallen criss-cross next to the stone on the poster, give impressive testimony to the extent of the destruction. In the years 2009/10 new oaks were planted on the Sieverhausen Kyrill area. During a visit today, almost nothing of the damage from that time can be felt.

The photo there only partially captures the destruction of the forest. It was a horrifying sight after the forces of nature struck here. Almost 20 years later, there is no trace of it. The area that was once bare now looks almost like a forest again.
