The Protestant parish church in Odenbach
As early as 893, the Eifel monastery in Prüm had its own church dedicated to St. Peter in Odenbach, which appeared from 1222 as a branch of the St. Medarduskirche in Medard.

The core of today's Protestant church dates back to the 14th century and is therefore one of the oldest churches in the area. Until 1565 it was surrounded by a cemetery. Until 1508, the ground floor of the bell tower housed the choir room, which was lit by three-lane tracery windows. After this had been renewed with a new triumphal arch, a side entrance in the north and southern rectangular windows, the chancel located in the tower was extended to a three-storey choir tower. In addition, there are pointed arched openings in the bell storey. In 1766, this was increased by one floor and received a slated half-hipped roof with a French hood, which is subdivided by two lanterns.

The nave was demolished in 1762 after it had become derelict in 1733 and built on high cuboid bases in 1764/1765 according to the plans of the director of land development, Philipp Heinrich Hellermann. It has corner pilasters and an eaves cornice. The room is illuminated by round-arched window jambs with wedge stone.

As far as the equipment is concerned, the organ by Karl Wagner from Kaiserslautern from 1853 has been preserved on the west gallery to this day. There is also a pulpit with a rectory in the church.

Our church in Odenbach - with its lower part of the tower from the 14th century and the 400-year-old nave - is in urgent need of renovation.

The wooden beams of the roof construction have been severely damaged by decades of moisture ingress and are therefore no longer stable.

In order to preserve our village church, a repair or replacement of the defective part is unavoidable.

For the first construction phase, namely the renovation of the tower, we need around €400,000. Through our own funds and grants, we can provide around €300,000.

For the missing €100,000 we need your help!

I am convinced that we can achieve our goal together, so that the Odenbach Church will continue to be preserved for us and for future generations.
