The history of the Hornbach monastery dates back to the 8th century. You can walk through the cloister, recharge your batteries in the chapel or take a break in the monastery garden. Hornbach Monastery is a former monastery founded around 741 by Saint Pirminius in the historic town of Gamundias
(now Hornbach), which soon became a Benedictine abbey. The neighboring spiritual centers were Trier and Metz. Today, all that remains of the Hornbach monastery complex are the structural remains of the convent buildings, which have been supplemented by a monastery museum, and a modern chapel containing the historic tomb of the monastery's founder.
