From the homepage of the Botanical Garden Kiel: "The Botanical Garden Kiel belongs to the Botanical Institute of the Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel and can look back on a 350-year history at its fifth location, where it has been open to the public since 1985 He has around 14,000 plant species for research and teaching. " (this and even more like opening times can be read at botanischer-garten.uni-kiel.de/de, as of March 2019).
Both the outdoor area and the greenhouses are worth seeing. And in the last greenhouse, the three-leafed Titanic is currently standing, each leaf the size of a small tree. The Titan Arrow has flourished here several times, which only a few botanical gardens worldwide succeed. The flowering can be up to 3 m high according to literature, making it by far the largest flower in the world. About the flowering sequence of the Kieler Titanwurz z. Nice informative garden. Admission is free, only for special events between 7-9 euros.
The opening times vary depending on the season. So ask Google first. 😉
Status May 2022: Masks are still compulsory indoors.
