Originally planted by the medical professor Olaus Rudbeck in 1655, the garden was owned and re-arranged by Carl Linnaeus starting from 1741. The garden houses many of the plants researched in his lifetime. The former residence of Carl Linnaeus adjacent to the garden is nowadays used as Linnaeus Museum (Linnémuséet). Tickets for the museum and the garden can be purchased on site, however since the garden closes after the museum, it is possible to visit the garden for free in the evening.
