You can take the loop either direction. I feel that going counter clockwise (right at the fork) is easier. It probably has longer ascents but not as steep. There is little shade on the entire loop; so, plan accordingly with plenty of water, salty snacks, and sunscreen. We normally stop at the valley overlook for snacks and a cold beverage.

Amazing views towards Las Vegas as well as Red Rock Canyon. Really great lookout point! Definitely do keep in mind that there is really no shade along this trail, but otherwise it's a great view if you make the hike up there!
