The church castle Effeltrich was built as a fortified church at the end of the 15th century after Nuremberg troops had robbed the place twice. With the approx. 200 meter long wall, the four towers and the battlement on the south side, Effeltrich has the best preserved fortified church in Upper Franconia.

Inside the church you can see some high Gothic figures with a baroque high altar and a rococo pulpit. In 1993 the chancel was given a bronze altar as a tree of life, next to it in the same style as the ambo and the Easter candlestick.

In addition to the fortified church, Effeltrich has also received the remarkable costumes that are an expression of the imagination and zest for life of our ancestors. In addition to the simpler workday costume for women, the Sunday costume is maintained, and the festive costume with the high wreath or the white or red headscarves serves as an enhancement. The men's costume, on the other hand, is simpler, but also worth seeing. Customs are also still very much alive here. On the Sunday before Ash Wednesday, winter is driven out.
