The figure created by Otto Beyer once adorned the fountain erected in 1912 on the market square of the then Brandenburg town of Arnswalde/Neumark. The city was besieged and fired upon by Russian troops in 1945, and the "Nasse Minna", as the Arnswalder vernacular called it, was destroyed. The fountain was copied from the surviving model and inaugurated on May 24, 1981. It is a symbol of the sponsorship of the city of Wunstorf for the home district of Arnswalde.
The fountain was planned as part of the design of the pedestrian zone and initially conceived as a drinking water fountain. The city of Arnswalde now belongs to Poland and is called Choszczno.
