The 3 linden trees near the Gasthof Post in the Wessobrunn village center are impressive, but their appearance fades a bit compared to the "thousand year old" Tassilolinde, which can be found next to the Wessobrunn cloister garden.

Under the Linden trees you can find the memorial plaque for the Wessobrunn prayer, a written testimony from the 9th century:

“I experienced this as the greatest of miracles among men,
That the earth did not exist, nor the sky above it,
Neither tree nor mountain,
Nor [...] anything,[1] nor the sun did not shine,
Nor the moon did not glow, nor the glorious sea.

When there was no end or border,
there was the one almighty God, the gentlest of men,
there were also many divine spirits with him.
And the holy God [...]

God, Almighty, who created heaven and earth and gave mankind so many good gifts, grant me in your grace right faith and good will, wisdom and prudence and strength to resist the devil and to avoid evil and to carry out your will.”
