Smygehuk is a port and the southernmost mainland point in Sweden and the Scandinavian peninsula. Signs and distance indicators indicate this geographical feature. At the harbor there is a statue of Axel Ebbe and a small memorial for "Akka von Kebnekaise", the lead goose from Selma Lagerlöf's novel Nils Holgersson, in the last chapter of which the harbor is described. The lighthouse has been in operation again since 2001; the former home of the lighthouse keeper now serves as a youth hostel. The prehistoric grave complex Bålhög is located a little east of the harbor. There is also a restaurant and a very nice souvenir shop (Smyge Hantverk, 11 am-5pm) with specially designed metal figures.
