"... In 1952 the first Moluccan families were housed in the green barracks behind the destroyed Wellse mill. Although they had their own church and school, a close bond with the Wells grew. People went shopping in Well, worked as gardeners in in the area, went to the Walaria cinema every week, attended each other's parties and were friendly with each other.Dr Smals was visited in Well when needed and Wijkzuster Tonk from the Groene Kruis visited the families regularly.The slightly older youth in particular got through making music together made good contact and many wavesians got their first guitar lessons in these years.Volleyball was also practiced, which led to the founding of the volleyball club VC Tornado, where both women and men were able to achieve many victories thanks to the good training of the Moluccan youth.

Well, and the residents of the residential area shared joys and sorrows like a big family. From around 1961, most residents moved to different residential areas in the Netherlands. Family Supuseta b.v. was the only one from Camp Well who moved to Doesburg. Most went to Opheusden and Cuijk, some to the west of the Netherlands. Neither of them lived on in Well, but even after the last family left in 1969, a strong bond remained through the occasional reunion and mutual invitations to weddings and birthdays. ..."
