St. Nicholas Church is the oldest building in the city. The west tower of the church, built in the Romanesque style around the middle of the 12th century, to which the current nave was added around 1300, dominates the city center of Bad Sachsa. The altar was donated in 1595 by the then mayor Hansen Hartmann, and in 1680 the church was given a gallery around the inside and in 1691 a half-timbered porch with a portal on the outside.[36] The baroque interior with a pulpit from 1711 is worth seeing.

From the hill on which the church stands in the city center, there is a beautiful view of the busy Marktstrasse, one of the city's main shopping streets.

Next to the church are the rectory, built in 1756, and the Luther House, which is often used for events. An octagonal fountain with three sandstone benches has stood on the small square in front of it for several years.
