The so-called cinder wall takes its name from the numerous vitrified pieces of rhyolite that can be found in the area (but not only there). Apparently the rock had been exposed to great heat, whether intentional or not. A wall fire was assumed to explain the glazed surface on the one hand, and targeted glass production on the other. Against the first theory speaks that the cinder wall was built from the beginning as a stone-earth wall and is not the collapsed remains of a wall. In addition, there are no glazed stones inside the wall. Based on the finds from the inner surface of the cinder wall, it can be assumed that the complex is older than the oppidum and dates back to the early Iron Age.
