Clervaux Castle is built on the side of a rock above the town. Built in successive stages, the castle's origins date back to the 12th century. The oldest part, the west wing with the country house, probably dates from an initiative of Count Gerhard van Sponheim, brother of the Count of Vianden.
Destroyed to ruins on December 17, 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, the castle was purchased by the Luxembourg state and completely restored.

Since the 1970s, the castle has been home to several institutions, including several excellent museums and exhibitions:
The Museum of the Battle of the Bulge was opened in 1974, the west wing of the castle houses the Museum of Scale Models of Luxembourg Castles, and the wing houses the famous photographic exhibition "The Family of Man", a World Heritage Site of the UNESCO state.

The Clerf Castle (French Château de Clervaux), also called Clervaux Castle, is a castle castle in the Luxembourg municipality of Clervaux. It stands on a rocky outcrop in the middle of the village and was founded at the latest in the 12th century as a hill fort. The first known lords of the castle were the Sponheimers.

High above the town of Clervaux, in the heart of the Ardennes, towers a 15th century castle, a Romanesque church and also the large Benedictine monastery of Saint-Maurice and Saint-Maur.

The beautiful castle, built high on the rock, rises above the houses of the village that are built around it in the shape of a horseshoe.

The town's picturesque view and natural location in the valley of the River Clerve have made it a popular place to visit.

Destroyed during the Second World War, the magnificent castle has been completely restored and is today a venerable witness to a glorious past.
