The Roque Nublo was important as a sacred mountain in the time of the Canarians. They had built a place of worship here where sacrifices were made to the sun god. In folk songs such as the Sombra del Nublo (Shadow of the Cloud Rock), the rock still has great significance today.

The Roque Nublo (Spanish for "cloud rock") is a mountain on the Canary Island of Gran Canaria (Spain). Its summit structure of the same name, a striking basalt rock, reaches 1813 msnm and is thus one of the highest elevations in Gran Canaria. It is considered the landmark of the island.
