Halfway down the footpath, next to a yellow post, at the foot of the slope are the remains of the wall from the mouth of the gallery "Frisches Glück und Friedrich" that in 1833 the Prussian Crown Prince traveled with the Prince Wilhelm Railway.

"... The Prince Friedrich colliery was a hard coal mine in what is now the Kupferdreh district of Essen.
In 1908, the Essener Steinkohlenbergwerke AG acquired the mining Altendorf Tiefbau. This purchase also included part of the mine field property of the decommissioned Steingatt colliery, which had mined in the area of Kupferdreh and Byfang until 1903. After its decommissioning, the southern part of the field, Prince Friedrich, was acquired directly by the Altendorf trade union. In some cases, this had leasing companies carry out a subsidy on a smaller scale.
In 1920, a new production shaft named Schacht Prinz Friedrich was sunk in this part of the field at the Gleisdreieck east of Lake Baldeney, which went into operation in 1923. The conveyor system was equipped with a German strut frame. The sinking of a second shaft was planned in the long term. However, the tense sales situation and the development of the colliery showed that these expansion measures did not make economic sense. In 1928, production was severely reduced and completely stopped in 1930; the colliery only served as a so-called syndicate shaft to secure the shareholding in the Rhenish-Westphalian coal syndicate.
After completion of the new Carl Funke 2 production shaft, it was decided to connect the Prinz Friedrich colliery to Carl Funke and production was transferred to Carl Funke via a connecting route. From 1931, the Prinz Friedrich shaft was run as the Carl Funke 3 cableway shaft. ..."
