              Stein am Rhein is widely known for its historic old town with its numerous magnificent town houses, many of which have magical facade paintings. They date from a variety of eras. The "White Eagle" occupies a special position. The building was first mentioned in documents in 1418 and its brightly painted frescoes in the Renaissance style are considered to be the first facade paintings in Switzerland.

                If you miss this during your visit to Stein am Rhein, you haven't seen Stein am Rhein. The elaborate wall paintings really come into their own when the sun is shining. All in all, a unique work of art.
