The Castle Bridge marks the beginning of Castle Street, from here you can reach the city center.
Castle Street follows the former Klenow Village Street.
For this reason, it does not run at right angles to the Castle Square, but rather at a slight angle.
To avoid competing with the castle, court architect Busch designed all the houses as two-story buildings. He emphasized a uniform eaves-lined structure, grouping four individual houses together. These blocks, in turn, are separated from each other by open spaces known as "Tüschen" (small courtyard entrances).
A special feature are the four square-like widenings with individual houses and special uses.
The streetscape is characterized by bold red, unplastered brick buildings with Dutch style elements.
The 1994 redesign of Castle Street, lined with linden trees on both sides, was subject to the special requirements of historic preservation. The Baroque streetscape with its paved roadway and bridleways and footpaths on both sides has been preserved.
