The cemetery on Robert-Siewert-Straße was established in 1902. Its area covers 7.7 hectares. The route of the U5 subway line runs along its north side. With more than 850 deciduous and coniferous trees, it has a park-like character. There are two natural monuments in the cemetery: a Douglas fir and a common ivy.
The cemetery chapel was completed in 1905 according to a design by Johannes Ernst and is a listed building. In 1907, the Protestant community of Karlshorst separated from the parent community of Friedrichsfelde. Since then, the cemetery has consisted of two burial sites. The chapel is located in the Karlshorst part of the cemetery, but is used jointly by both parishes. Since November 2007, the animal cemetery "Im Wiesengrund" has existed in the northern part of the site.
