The Hunsingo lock is a very striking hydraulic object that was (and is) of great significance for the water management of the Noorderzijlvest. The lock is currently being refurbished and made operational again. A new pumping station will be built next to the lock to replace the HD Louwes pumping station. Thanks to this operation, the current pumping station no longer forms an obstacle for pleasure craft between the Hunsingo Canal and the Lauwersmeer.
