The cozy Wolfsschluchthütte of the OG Esthal can be found in the Breitenbach valley, near the municipality of Esthal. Volunteers offer refreshments on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. -
Rafting used to take place in the Breitenbach as well, it was difficult and dangerous work. Because of the steep slopes, the wood was brought down to the valley on sledges and taken to the small lakes of the Breitenbach. To the right and left of the Breitenbach, the creek is bordered with heavy stones. In the course of industrialization, the rail and road network was expanded and rafting was largely discontinued after 1960. Some of the stones were then taken from the Breitenbach and used for building houses.
