The church of St. Georg zu Cösitz was built in 1522. The nave probably dates from the 17th century, as do the crypt additions on the north side, which were completed in 1685. The church building has a three-sided choir end and a square west tower that was newly built in 1882. In the simple interior, the view to the east is directed towards the altar by the unusual sculptural design of the flat ceiling. A monumental cross shape, formed from varying cube-like elements in white, partly gold-plated, characterizes the room, designed according to designs by the Köthen architectural firm DS Architects. In the choir there is a very beautiful Gothic winged altar, created around 1480. Its center is the figure of Mary with the child in a halo, flanked by saints against a blue and gold background. There are 6 smaller figures of saints in each wing. The outside of the altar shows a painted Annunciation scene, the painting of the predella above the altar table shows Mary with the Child, Saint Anne and Saint Elisabeth. The organ from the Rühlmann company dates from the time of the renovation in 1882. A bell around 1300 is dated, has probably been preserved from the previous church.
