The Vishal van Zaltbommel, located on the Vismarkt corner of Kerkstraat, was probably restored at the end of the 20th century. The building, three wings in a U-shape, looks "kek". Photos from just after WWII show that the original building was treated with great respect during restoration. The Vishal was built in 1776 in a neo-classical architectural style. The three wings rest on slender Doric columns. The coat of arms of the city of Zaltbommel is depicted in a pediment. Sea and river fish were traded on this market, which were brought in via the Waal. Before the year this fish hall was built, the city undoubtedly already had a fish hall. It is unclear where this predecessor of this hall was located. Incidentally, it is striking how many public buildings in Zaltbommel were rebuilt in the 2nd half of the 18th century.. Stadhuis, Waag, Vishal. In front of the fish hall a beautiful, large stone city pump, also 2nd half of the 18th century.

Fish hall built in 1766 by C. van Leeuwen, consisting of three wings around a courtyard, which is separated from the street by an iron gate. The three wings are covered by hipped roofs and open to the small square like galleries with hard stone Doric columns, which support a wooden entablature. The central bay of the recessed wing bears a wooden pediment with the city arms and the year 1776. Carved doors in the end facades facing the street.
