At the entrance to the Schillerwiese sports grounds on this side (which was renamed after the construction of the Schillerbrunnen 200-300 meters to the west) is an information and commemorative plaque that the area was previously used as a gallows hill and was named as such. Executions have been carried out on the site since the 14th century. Among other things, the plaque commemorates the victims of the Rellinghausen witch trials from 1579 to 1597.
