From Cruz del Carmen, three routes begin, known as the Trail of the Senses. You are walking along an old Camino Real, a royal road that connected the villages of Anaga to the town of La Laguna. They offer the opportunity to explore and experience the environment with a different sense: by smelling, seeing and touching. Along the trail, signs with symbols for the different senses (nose, hand, eye) encourage hikers to smell, touch or look at a specific element of the environment. The Senses Trail 3 includes the previous two trails and descends even further to the Mirador del Llano de los Loros, where hikers can enjoy views of Santa Cruz and the Tahodio Gorge and Dam. Its difference in altitude and the corresponding demands on the hiker, although not particularly pronounced, are greater than those of the other two trails of the senses.
