In Mossano (south-eastern side of the Berici, province of Vicenza) you can take a nice and quiet walk of two to three hours with the main destination being a visit to the cave of San Bernardino.

This is the oldest archaeological site in the Vicenza area, where traces of Neanderthal Man have been found dating back to over 200,000 years ago.
The name of the cave refers to the fifteenth-century frequentation of the hermitage by San Bernardino da Siena.
The place is truly fascinating, even if the cave is only visible from the outside. Nature has had fun creating an incredible scenography, a kind of church surmounted by a limestone tower that recalls the Gothic sacred architecture, the view towards the Val di Palù, the San Pancrazio hill, the Euganean Hills and the boundless plain, It is extraordinary.
