The temple was built in 1927 on the centenary of the centenary of the death of Alessandro Volta on the shores of Lake Como. Inside are preserved busts, reliefs and memorabilia and a visit to Como without a detour to the Tempio Voltiano is practically unthinkable.

Designed by Federico Frigerio, it has the shape of a Neoclassical square-plan temple with a Corinthian porch (Pronao) containing the statues Faith and Science by Carlo and Luigi Rigola. Inside there is a large round space, which is covered by a high dome.

The tour of the Tempio Voltiano starts to the left of the entrance and follows the original works and findings of Lario's greatest scientist on two floors in chronological order, created during a long life not only as a researcher, but also as a politician and professor; In addition, contemporary pictures and publications are shown.
