The Porta Torre is a tower and city gate in the city of Como.
History:
At the end of the Ten Years' War (1118-1127), Milan demolished the Roman city walls.
After 1154, the city walls were rebuilt and later reinforced with three large towers on the south side. In addition to the Porta Torre, these were the Porta Nuova to the west and the Torre di San Vitale to the east. The Porta Torre is dated to 1192 and was the main entrance to the city of Como.
