Langenhard Windturbine is running away from the energy transition
From groundbreaking to feed-in in six months
Since October 2nd - three months earlier than forecast - the new Enercon E-138 wind turbine on the Langenhard has been feeding into the power grid. It replaces a system that was damaged in 2019 (called repowering). At least 6.8 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity are produced annually and more than 5,500 tons of CO2 are avoided. With just three months of approval process and nine months of investigations and then six months of construction, it shows how fast the energy transition can be. “If everyone pulls together, then comprehensive renewal can happen very quickly,” says Georg Hille, project manager at Ecovision GmbH/OEKOGENO eG. And adds with a wink: “Perhaps the coalition partners in Berlin can also learn from this!”
Everyone looked at the common goal and repeatedly jumped over their own and others' shadows: the Ortenau district office issued the building permit after a very short time. The Mittelbaden power plant ensured the grid connection smoothly. Andreas Markowsky's Freiburg green electricity group confidently steered the project through all development phases. The always helpful landlady Rosi Fehrenbach provided, among other things, access and humor. Enercon quickly built the system with a hub height of 160 meters under the topographically difficult conditions.
A key reason for the rapid implementation of the wind turbine is certainly the good experience with wind power in the region and the exceptionally broad citizen participation of around 170 individuals from Ecovision/OEKOGENO, a municipal utility and loans from another four cooperatives and the regional savings bank.
Ecovision/OEKOGENO will also operate the wind turbine.
The official inauguration for the public will take place in spring 2022.
