The eye-catcher of the center of Lithoijen is the former town hall, one of the most beautiful buildings in this village. It was beautifully renovated in 2004. It is not only a beautiful building, the (creation) history is correspondingly. The friendly building dates from 1906.
It has a style that is characteristic of that period, a facade with a lot of symmetry and a monumental double staircase to the first floor. That is the first floor of a building above the ground floor or the basement.

The tender for the new town hall of the then independent municipality of Lithoijen did not go smoothly. The lowest bidder came with an amount of 4420 guilders, much more than had been budgeted. The local Boerenleenbank did not consider the municipality creditworthy and refused to assist.

Municipal secretary G. van der Schans pulled out his wallet. At the same time, the 'goatee' also had his own house built. That is still there, on the Langwijkstraat. In 1939 Lithoijen was added to Lith. The town hall, which had become redundant, became a home.
