Oijen Castle was located east of the North Brabant village of Oijen. Today, a few outbuildings remain. This castle was built in 1361 by order of Mary of Brabant, daughter of Duke John III of Brabant. It was intended as an outpost on the Maas to protect against raids by the Gelderse. When Maria died childless in 1399, the manor of Oijen and the castle fell to the Duke of Gelre.

It is no longer the castle that it was originally. That's because it was demolished a few times and there was a fire, or just decay. Of course, many castles are subject to change, but that has certainly and radically happened with this one. Still, it looks nice, with that white look.
