The Strumberg is located in the municipality of Ebenau and is best reached via the beautiful path from the town center. The Strumberg can also be climbed from Faistenau with a hike along forest and woodland paths. However, the motto “The journey is the destination” clearly applies. While the actual summit of the Strumberg is not very spectacular in the forest, the mountain path from Ebenau is quite varied and exciting. In my opinion, it is particularly worth taking a tour from Ebenau over the Karl-Götz-Steig and the Kirchenberg, past the Pfarrstuhl and the Göllblick, all the way to the summit. To descend, you can either choose the same path or you can descend again on the east side of the Strumberg and hike around: the shorter option takes you along forest and side roads on the Lidaunweg back to Ebenau. The longer but also more attractive route can be chosen via the Lettengraben and the Metzgersteig along the Strubklamm. Afterwards you definitely deserve a stop at the Gasthof Obermayer or the Schnitzelwirt right in the town center (please note the opening times!). Alternatively, the benches on the Kirchenberg, Pfarrstuhl or Göllblick are also ideal “snack spots”.
