"... On the southern edge of the Bladenhorst landscape park, in the immediate vicinity of one of the most beautiful preserved workers' settlements in the Ruhr area, a forest is dedicated to art: the KunstWald Teutoburgia invites you to take a walk. The sound artist Christof Schläger had a support association at the end of the 1980s was founded, whose ideas were picked up by the municipal association of the Ruhr area in a competition in 1993 and put into practice.

Art objects in the park

The former machine hall and winding tower are reminiscent of the Teutoburgia colliery sunk in 1908, which was shut down after just a few years in 1925 because the coal extracted here was not suitable for coke production. The towering "pedestrian", a wire mesh sculpture by Monika Günther and Manfred Walz, now corresponds to this tower, a "German strut frame" from 1908. The fact that the sculpture becomes more and more densely entwined with tendrils and wild vines has symbolic value: "The steel age is overgrown and people gain a new liveliness" - this is the interpretation of a knowledgeable interpreter.

Further attractions in the KunstWald Teutoburgia are the allusive "Ariadnefaden" by Hermann Kassel and the "Sunken Square" by Klaus Gärtner - both metaphorically refer to the history of the miner's place. Frank Niehusmann has created a special "fragrance and sound pedestal", scented plants stimulate the senses and mix with the spherical sounds from the oak pedestals. The "unfolded facade" on the north side of the machine hall is worth seeing, with which Margret Cramer brings the paving in front of the building and the facade into a dialogue; The "turning point" by Elke Bauer is abstract, an ensemble of steel sculptures that will be planted with hops in the future. The modern Garden of Eden, for which ten artists provided the ideas, is a successful mixture of nature and art. ... "
